The wounded Memphis Grizzlies finished 13th in the West this season with a record of 27-55. Ja Morant , Jaren Jackson Jr. , Marcus Smart , and others missed the season dealing with injuries. It was a scary and unfortunate season for the Grizzlies, as 13 of the 18 players listed on the roster were reported injured throughout the season.

As the regular season has come to an end, the Grizzlies will look forward to the NBA draft. Other than that, if the squad does return healthy in the next season, the Grizzlies will be a playoff contender in no time. Recently, Ja Morant commented on the same situation, hoping that the roster returns healthy next season.

I think we can (win a championship) next season. Honestly, God-willing. If everyone stays healthy. said Ja Morant via Grizzlies’ reporter Damichael Cole

The Grizzlies made the playoffs last year, meeting the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round. While the Grizzlies went home in six games, the young squad was confident in making a comeback. Back in 2022, the Grizzlies faced the Golden State Warriors in the second round of the playoffs, giving them a tough series. Still, Morant and company couldn’t get past them, as the series ended in six games.

Ja Morant and the Grizzlies are on the right track

Ever since the emergence of this young core, including Morant, Jaren Jackson Jr., Bane, and others, the Grizzlies have found their desired pattern. Making three consecutive playoff appearances, the group of young players were on their way to a bright future ahead. However, the series of injuries has affected the team immensely.

Going into the next season, the Grizzlies will have all its players back healthy along with a first-round pick. As seen in the mock draft, the Grizzlies are locked in for a top-ten pick in this year’s draft. Adding another valuable asset to the roster this season as their stars come back, Memphis will have more depth in their roster. Derrick Rose, the former MVP, is a veteran presence on the team, guiding the younger players.

It will be interesting to see who the Grizzlies will land in this year’s draft, and how it’ll benefit the team. On the other hand, Morant, Jackson Jr., and others will look to fully recover ahead of the following season. Until then, the Grizzlies’ front office will be on sight and active this offseason, looking out for special additions for next season.
