LeBron James’ Los Angeles Lakers team has been extremely busy adding veterans and future Hall of Fame players to the mix thus far this summer.

Fresh off an ugly first-round exit at the hands of the Phoenix Suns in the NBA playoffs, Los Angeles has brought in eight new players. That includes a blockbuster trade for Russell Westbrook and King James finally teaming up with bestie Carmelo Anthony.

Now that the dust has settled to extent, LeBron took to social media to blast skeptics who conclude his Lakers are too old in a now-deleted tweet.

It appears that the four-time NBA champion is already motivated to prove naysayers wrong. While the Lakers’ moves have pretty much been applauded, it’s hard to ignore the ages of those who they brought in to the mix.

Here are the ages of the players Los Angeles has added, via either NBA free agency or the trade block:

  • Carmelo Anthony: 37
  • Trevor Ariza: 36
  • Dwight Howard: 36
  • Russell Westbrook: 32

James himself is 36, while potential starting center Marc Gasol is 36.

It’s nice to get a bit extra motivation heading into the 2021-22 season. And in reality, the Lakers are top-end title contenders. In no way does that mean pointing to the age of their core group is somehow incorrect.
