Indiana basketball sophomore forward Kaleb Banks has entered the transfer portal, according to multiple reports.

Banks played two seasons at Indiana where he appeared in 45 games for the Hoosiers where he averaged 2.3 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 0.6 assists per game.

Banks came in with a recruiting class that featured Jalen Hood-Schifino, Malik Reneau and CJ Gunn.

Kaleb Banks was the second player in the 2022 class to commit to play Mike Woodson and Indiana. He chose the Hoosiers over schools such as Georgia, Georgia State, Clemson, and Alabama. Indiana associate head coach Yasir Rosemond was the lead recruiter for Banks due to his ties in the state of Georgia.

Banks came into his freshman season as the 2022 4A Player of the Year as a senior at Fayette County (Ga.) where he averaged 23 points, 10 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game in his senior season.

However, Banks went from being ‘the guy’ at the high school level to a player that often got lost in the shuffle of the Indiana basketball rotation during his two seasons playing for Indiana basketball. Viewed as someone that was expected to take a big step in his sophomore season, Banks just could never find a way to crack the rotation and play significant minuets.

Once Mike Woodson started to shorten the rotation as the season went on, Banks found his way strictly on Indiana’s bench. The last time Banks saw his playing in minutes in double-figures was in Indiana win vs Ohio State in early January where he logged 13 minutes. His career high came against Kennesaw State where he scored 12 points.

“I learned that that you never know when it is going to be your moment, so just always be ready for that moment,” Banks said this past summer. “There may be times where it’s not your moment, but times when you are in the fire and you have to step up and make that moment happen.”
