Jacqueline Towns, mother of Karl-Anthony Towns, dies from complications due to COVID-19

Jacqueline Towns, mother of NBA All-Star Karl-Anthony Towns, has died of the coronavirus, the Minnesota Timberwolves said in a statement.

Towns took to Twitter last month to announce his mother was placed in a medically induced coma due to the virus. The entire NBA community sent thoughts and prayers to Towns at the time, and support is sure to pour in as the unthinkable has happened.

The 24-year-old's father also was diagnosed with COVID-19 but is recovering well, according to recent reports.

Towns grew up in New Jersey, played his college basketball at Kentucky and was drafted by the Timberwolves first overall in 2015. His mother has always been a big part of his life growing up, and it'll be a rather difficult time for the Towns' family moving forward.
