One of the final moves the Philadelphia 76ers made at the trade deadline was moving on from Jaden Springer. Just two and a half years after they selected him in the first round, the 21-year-old finds himself on the Boston Celtics.
Now that he's had time to get acclimated with his new team, Springer opened up on being moved at the deadline. Overall, the defensive-minded guard is pleased to find himself on one of the league's top teams.
"Coming to a team like this, you can't go wrong. Probably the best team in the league, a bunch of great guys, great organization, and so far I'm loving it here," Springer told reporters.
In his press conference following the deadline, Daryl Morey touched on what led to him sending Springer to Boston for a second-round pick. Given that the team is looking to contend now, he felt the draft capital helps them more than the young prospect.
Springer was asked about Morey's remarks, to which he didn't seem fazed. He's already managed to put the situation behind him and start looking ahead to his new opportunity. "I ain't really worried about that too much...I'm here now," Springer continued.
During his time with the Sixers, Springer spent most of his time in the G-League with the Delaware Blue Coats. He's appeared in 50 total NBA games, with 32 of them happening this season. Prior to being traded, Springer was averaging 4.0 PPG, 1.8 RPG, and 1.8 APG.
Since being traded, Springer has yet to make his on court debut for the Celtics. The first time he will see his former team is later this month. The Sixers are slated to face Boston for the final time this season on February 27th.
