JaVale McGee agrees to three-year, $20.1M deal with Mavericks

Veteran center JaVale McGee will have a new home for the 2022-23 season. 

According to multiple reports, McGee has agreed to terms on a three-year, $20 million deal with the Dallas Mavericks

McGee averaged 9.2 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in 74 games last season for the Phoenix Suns. He played in 12 postseason games, averaging 6.8 points and 4.0 rebounds, playing just over 11 minutes a game.

According to ESPN's Tim MacMahon, McGee expects to be the starter at center for the Mavericks next season.

This will be McGee's second stint with the Mavericks. He spent the 2015-16 season in Dallas, playing in 34 games. 

Over his 14-year career, McGee has been a part of three NBA championship teams, winning with the Golden State Warriors (2017, 2018) and Los Angeles Lakers (2020). 

McGee was selected No. 18 overall by the Washington Wizards in the 2008 NBA Draft. The 34-year-old has played over 800 games for eight teams over his career.
