In a tightly contested match, the Utah Jazz secured a 124-122 victory over the Atlanta Hawks during Friday’s NBA action, led by standout performances from Keyonte George and Collin Sexton. Their combined effort ended Utah’s three-game slide despite missing key players Lauri Markkanen and Jordan Clarkson.
George’s evolution from a sharpshooter to a versatile scoring threat was on full display, with the rookie making a significant impact without relying heavily on three-pointers.
“Right now, I feel good about where my game is going,” George stated, reflecting on his expanding role and skills on the court.
Jazz coach Will Hardy sees George’s development as a sign of his potential star power in the league.
“Tonight is just a glimpse into what Keyonte’s future can be,” Hardy said, emphasizing George’s ability to adapt and thrive in various game situations.
John Collins and Johnny Juzang provided significant contributions for their teams, with Collins posting a double-double and Juzang setting a career-high in points off the bench. The Jazz focused on dominating inside, leading to a high points-in-the-paint and fast-break tally.
“That was an emphasis for us, getting in the paint and trying them as much as we could,” Collins shared, highlighting the team’s strategy to pressure the Hawks’ defense.
Dejounte Murray, De’Andre Hunter, Jalen Johnson, and Clint Capela led the charge for the Hawks, with Murray expressing frustration over the team’s inconsistent defense. “We didn’t come ready to play defense for the whole game,” Murray lamented, pointing out the team’s lack of communication at crucial moments.

Quin Snyder’s return to Salt Lake City added another layer of drama to the contest, with the former Utah coach now leading the Hawks.
“That one stretch where they went on a run, knocked some shots down, I thought we did a great job of keeping our composure, coming back, and putting ourselves in a position where we had a chance to win the game,” Snyder remarked, proud of his team’s resilience despite the loss.
As both teams look ahead to their next games, the Jazz will host Minnesota on Saturday, while the Hawks set their sights on a matchup against the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday.
