J.B. Bickerstaff away from Cavaliers for personal reasons ahead of game vs. Bulls

The Cleveland Cavaliers announced that head coach J.B. Bickerstaff is away from the team for personal reasons and will miss Wednesday's game against the Chicago Bulls.

Assistant coach Greg Buckner will serve as head coach for Wednesday's matchup.

Bickerstaff is expected to return for Friday's matchup against the Charlotte Hornets.

The Cavaliers are 25-43 under Bickerstaff since he took over as head coach last February. He previously served as an assistant in Cleveland from 2019-20.

The Cavs are 20-37 this season and have won more games than they did during the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons. Cleveland is hoping to make the play-in tournament, though it will be difficult to rise in the standings as the season winds down.
