Jerry Colangelo: LeBron James likely done playing in Olympics

Los Angeles Lakers superstar and four-time NBA champion LeBron James earned a bronze medal with the Team USA squad that disappointed during the 2004 Summer Olympics but went on to win gold in 2008 and 2012.

It appears that will be it for his career Olympic haul.

During an appearance on ESPN's "Keyshawn, JWill & Zubin Show," USA Basketball managing director Jerry Colangelo explained that the 36-year-old all-time great has probably represented his country on the biggest stage for the final time.

"You know, Father Time takes its toll," Colangelo said. "... If you're a human being, your body is built to go so long depending on what your sport is, and then it's a downhill situation. LeBron made choices these last couple of Olympics not to participate because he's got a lot of things going on in his life. So he put in his time, he made a contribution that is appreciated, but I think his time is over."

James didn't play in the 2016 Summer Games. He opted out of the upcoming tournament after he dealt with a serious ankle injury this past NBA season that he said in May could slow him through the remainder of his playing days.

"I knew I wasn't going to get back to 100%. It's impossible," James said of the setback at that time. "I don't think I will ever get back to 100% in my career."
