Joel Embiid-less 76ers win overtime duel with Grizzlies

The Philadelphia 76ers rested MVP favorite Joel Embiid on Monday night but managed to win a fifth straight game anyway by beating the Memphis Grizzlies in overtime, 122-119.

The trio of Tobias Harris, Andre Drummond, and Tyrese Maxey all had huge games for the 76ers to outduel Ja Morant and company. Maxey and Harris dropped 33 and 31 points, respectively, while Drummond pulled down 23 rebounds for Philadelphia.

In the final sequence of the game, the Grizzlies' Ziaire Williams missed a three-point attempt and Maxey broke free for a buzzer-beating layup.

Morant led the way for the Grizzlies with 37 points, including an acrobatic driving layup at the end of the fourth quarter to help force overtime.

With the win, the 76ers improved to 31-19 on the season, moving to just a half-game behind the Chicago Bulls for second place in the Eastern Conference. The Grizzlies fell to 35-18 and are still third place in the Western Conference.
