Josh Hart claps back at Pistons coach

Pistons coach Monty Williams didn’t appreciate Donte DiVincenzo’s record-setting night. Josh Hart didn’t want to hear it.

DiVincenzo made a career-high 11 three-pointers Monday, which set a New York Knicks franchise record. He made the last one with 3:18 left in the game and the Knicks leading 118-89.

Williams may have taken issue with DiVincenzo going for the record in a blowout. The Knicks guard attempted seven threes in the quarter, making two. But Josh Hart wasn’t having it.

“If he didn’t want to be a part of the story, he should have told his guys to defend better.”

Hart also got his sixth triple-double of the season and his third in the last two weeks, though Williams didn’t complain about that. Williams also didn’t mention the play where Deuce McBride threw a pass to himself off an unaware Malachi Flynn’s back for a layup, though that was more disrespectful than DiVincenzo taking a lot of threes.

Malachi Flynn, you should have defended better.

It’s the second time in as many trips to Madison Square Garden that Williams delivered an angry postgame speech about DiVincenzo. Last time, he complained about the referees not calling a last-second foul on the player known as “The Michael Jordan of Delaware,” and calling out the New York media.

Where’s the New York media now? Probably reporting on DiVincenzo’s spectacular night, and ironically, Williams’ comments have guaranteed he is part of that story.
