Kendrick Perkins on Kevin Durant returning to Warriors: 'It would tarnish his legacy forever'

It's the summer of Kevin Durant. Will he stay with the Brooklyn Nets or will his wandering eyes take him elsewhere?

That's arguably the biggest question of this NBA offseason, and everyone is talking about it.

One of those talking heads has a bit more credibility the most, though, and that's because he and Durant used to hoop together. Kendrick Perkins may be trying to make his name as an elite NBA analyst nowadays, but he made his name as one of the more intimidating big men in the league during his time on the hardwood.

Perkins played for 16 seasons, notably winning a championship with the Boston Celtics alongside Ray Allen, Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett in 2007-08. He played for Oklahoma City from 2010 to 2015, and that's where his path crossed with Durant, who was on the hunt for his first Larry O'Brien trophy at the time.

Durant never got to the top of the mountain with Oklahoma City, and that made his decision to sign with the Golden State Warriors, who were already a championship team, somewhat easy to criticize.

Durant got his rings with the Warriors, and now that things have soured with the Nets, could a return to the Warriors be a possibility?

While a trade would make sense on paper, Perkins doesn't believe Durant's legacy would be able to handle such a move.

"If KD went back to the Warriors, I think it would tarnish his legacy forever. Forever," Perkins said. "He can not go back to the Warriors. Not the team you left to go team up with Kyrie Irving. It didn't work out for you and all of a sudden you go back and team up with them after they just delivered a championship? His legacy would be tarnished forever."

Perkins went on to say that he'd never go back to Golden State if he was Durant.
