Kevin Durant 'excited' to work with, be coached by Steve Nash

While many were skeptical about the Brooklyn Nets' hiring of Steve Nash as the team's next head coach, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant endorsed the move, unsurprisingly.

Speaking on J.J. Redick's "The Old Man and the Three" podcast, Kevin Durant said he's "excited" to work with and be coached by Nash.

"His insight for the game, his communication, how he communicates the game of basketball is definitely going to help me as a player develop and it's going to help the rest of the team," Durant said, according to ESPN's Andrew Lopez.

Durant first worked out with Nash about seven or eight years ago and he revealed that it helped him understand how Nash's mind works.

Earlier this week, Nash revealed that Irving is "one of his favorite players of all time" and that he's excited to work with the star point guard and Durant for many years to come.

There were some who were opposed to Nash being hired by the Nets, as he had no prior experience as an NBA or college coach.

While he's never been a head coach, Nets management hopes he'll instill his 20 years of NBA experience into his players. Nash replaces Jacque Vaughn, who served as the team's interim coach after Kenny Atkinson was fired.

If Nash can take advantage of relationships with Irving and Durant, the Nets will be among the most successful teams in the NBA next season and certainly a favorite among Eastern Conference contenders.
