Following the Phoenix Suns’ third consecutive loss, a disappointing defeat against the Dallas Mavericks on Christmas Day, Kevin Durant addressed his performance with a sense of accountability.
In a postgame interview, Durant acknowledged, “I got to be better. I think that’s holding the team back.”

For the first time this season, Durant scored fewer than 20 points, attempting a season-low 11 shots. Particularly, in the 2nd half he scored just 4 points as the Suns relied on Grayson Allen to keep them in the game.
Durant also grappled with turnovers, accumulating 6 in the game and reaching a total of 18 over the past three games.
With injuries plaguing the team, the Suns find themselves below .500 for the first time since the opening week of the season, contributing to evident frustration within the organization.
Addressing recent reports, Durant distanced himself from WOJ’s Monday update, asserting that the report mischaracterized his sentiments.
While the comment on Instagram was quickly deleted, Durant wanted no part of the rumors.
Currently, Durant ranks 5th in the NBA with an impressive 30.3 points per game this season. Despite the team’s recent challenges, it would be a stretch to suggest Durant has disengaged, as even at 35 years old, consistently proves himself as the most talented presence on the court.
