Brooklyn Nets forward Kevin Durant Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

Kevin Durant will miss one of the ceremonies before Sunday night’s NBA All-Star Game in Cleveland following the death of his grandmother.

Durant’s mother Wanda announced via Instagram on Sunday that her mother Barbara Davis died.

Durant is extremely close with his mother and her family. He will not attend the ceremony for the 75th anniversary team on Sunday night even though he was chosen as one of the 75 greatest players ever.

Durant, 33, was selected for his 12th All-Star Game. The former league MVP and two-time NBA Finals MVP is averaging 29.3 points, 7.4 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game this season for the Brooklyn Nets.
