Cleveland Cavaliers forward Kevin Love Chuck Cook-USA TODAY Sports

It’s something of an open secret at this point that Kevin Love desperately wants to be traded.

Although the Cleveland Cavaliers signed him to a four-year, $120 million contract despite his notable injury history, that hefty paycheck apparently isn’t enough to make up for all the losing Love has done in recent years.

Last week, Love made headlines when his frustration with his current situation in Cleveland manifested itself in this play:

Love later apologized for what happened there.

This week, the 32-year-old found himself in the headlines once more – this time for getting very honest about where he’d love to have the opportunity to play.

During this week’s episode of the “Posted Up with Chris Haynes” podcast, Love admitted that he would love to team up with Damian Lillard and his hometown Portland Trail Blazers.

“Who wouldn’t want to play with Dame Lillard, first of all,” he said. “Dame, he’s special. He’s amazing. I claim Portland when they ask me where I’m from. It’s where I spent all of my formative years. I grew up in Portland. When people ask where I was born, obviously I say L.A. But Portland is always going to be a special place in my heart. Whether it be at the end of my career, whether it be in six months, or whatever it may be, if I was wearing a Portland jersey, that’s special. That’s playing at home.”

Love currently has two years left on his Cavaliers deal. That said, it’s all but a foregone conclusion that he will ultimately be dealt before he sees that contract run out. Cleveland has a budding young big in Jarrett Allen whom it wants to develop, and Love playing simply takes away from that.

The interest in Love will there. Whether that interest will turn into anyone actually making a big move for him remains to be seen.
