Kings' Davion Mitchell, Nets' Cam Thomas named co-MVPs of NBA Summer League

The Sacramento Kings smashed the Boston Celtics 100-67 on Tuesday night to win the NBA Summer League championship game in convincing fashion.

On Wednesday, Sacramento’s Davion Mitchell and Cam Thomas of the Brooklyn Nets were named co-Most Valuable Players of the competition.

According to the Association's website, Mitchell averaged 10.8 points, 5.8 assists, and 1.4 rebounds per contest while shooting 47.1% from three-point land and 42.3% overall from the field. Per the Summer League stats, Thomas led all scorers with 27 points per game and also averaged two assists and 1.8 rebounds. He shot 36% from beyond the arc and 42.3% from the field.

"We loved what we saw and that’s why we drafted him," Kings coach Luke Walton said about Mitchell on Tuesday, according to W.G. Ramirez of The Associated Press (h/t NBA). "We continue to try to bring a certain player in and the front office has done a nice job, and you watch Davion play and you see him win a national championship, you get his background and how he competes and how he leads and how he works, and that’s why we spent a top-10 pick on him."
