The Kings made the playoffs for the first time in 17 years, and GM Monte McNair was the man behind the plan.

For his efforts, McNair has been named NBA Executive of the Year, the league announced in a press release on Wednesday.

McNair won the award in a landslide, garnering 16 first-place votes. Cavaliers president of basketball operations Koby Altman placed second with seven first-place votes. It marks the second straight season Altman has finished runner-up, with Grizzlies GM Zach Kleinman winning the award in 2022.

McNair just finished his third year in his role with Sacramento. He hired NBA Coach of the Year Mike Brown before the season and selected starting forward Keegan Murray with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft.

The Kings won the Pacific Division with a 48-34 record and placed third in the Western Conference. They were eliminated by the Warriors in seven games in the first round of the playoffs.

Sacramento actually finished with a better road record (25-16) than at home (23-18). They averaged a league-high 120.7 points with a roster built by McNair.
