The Sacramento Kings are signing shooting guard Keon Ellis to a three-year contract, agent Corey Marcum told Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Ellis, 24, had been playing with Sacramento on a two-way deal, spending some of his time with the Stockton Kings of the G League.
He has appeared in 29 games with Sacramento, averaging 3.8 points, 1.3 rebounds and 1.2 assists, shooting 43 percent from the field and 38 percent on 3-pointers.
Originally signed to a two-way deal in October 2022, Ellis has spent time not just at shooting guard, but occasionally serving as the backup point guard to standout starter De’Aaron Fox.
“In order to sign Ellis to a contract exceeding two years, the Kings figure to use a leftover portion of their room exception,” wrote Luke Adams of Hoops Rumors. “The 2023/24 league year represents the first time that the room exception can be used to complete a deal of up to three years instead of just two.”
