The New York Knicks are gaining traction as a potential destination for Andre Drummond, according to Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer.

Drummond hasn’t played in a game since February, as he and the Cleveland Cavaliers have been trying to work on a resolution to give the big man an opportunity to go to a better situation for himself.

As we relayed yesterday, the Knicks have floated the idea of sending Mitchell Robinson to the New Orleans Pelicans, which would open up a spot for Drummond to come in and take over at the center spot.

The 6-foot-10 center would give the Knicks a veteran presence who can score and rebound at a high-level at that position, and with New York looking to make the playoffs for the first time since the 2012-13 season, Drummond will check off a lot of boxes to help the Knicks achieve that goal.

Drummond has been linked to the Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Lakers recently as well, but that would only be an option for both teams via a buyout.

Drummond was born in nearby Mount Vernon but moved to Connecticut at a young age, which is still not too far from the bright lights of New York City.
