The 2023-24 NBA regular season has been a special one for New York Knicks point guard Jalen Brunson. He has cemented his status as one of the top players in the league, earning his first trip to the All-Star game with more accolades likely on the way at the end of the season.

Personal accolades aren’t what is most important to Brunson. He wants to win as much as possible, which is why he is such a great fit under head coach Tom Thibodeau. While the accolades aren’t what he is focused on, he has been racking them up this season.

There have been stretches this season where he was the best player on the court, regardless of opponent, every night. He has willed the Knicks to victory, helping keep the team afloat as they await reinforcements from the injured list.

That has put a major onus on Brunson to produce on a nightly basis. More often than not, he has answered the call. In the process, he has made some NBA history through the first 54 games of the season.

To this point, Brunson has scored 1,524 points, including 146 3-pointers made, which is a new career high. He has added 369 assists, 205 rebounds and has turned the ball over only 138 times.

That puts him on pace for one of the best seasons in NBA history. According to KnicksMuse on X, Brunson is the first player to have 1400+ points, 350+ assists, 100+ 3-pointers and under 150 turnovers through the first 54 games of a season in league history.

What Brunson is accomplishing this season is truly special. He has overcome the odds at every stop along his basketball journey, proving naysayers wrong regularly. This season is no different, as people who believed the Knicks overpaid him in free agency in 2022 now believe him to have one of the most valuable contracts in the NBA.
