Knicks, Nets monitoring Zach LaVine as potential trade target

If Zach LaVine becomes available on the trade market, could he be headed to New York?

Both the New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets already are showing interest in the 25-year-old, according to SNY's Ian Begley, and they've done their background research on the high-scoring Chicago Bulls guard. 

In 60 games this season, LaVine averaged 25.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game while shooting 45 percent from the field and 38 percent from three-point range. He's set to become an unrestricted free agent after the 2021-22 campaign if he goes unsigned by the Bulls. 

The Knicks and Nets both have some enticing assets that could interest newly appointed Bulls president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas. The Knicks have seven first-round picks through 2023 while the Nets could offer Chicago a package of young players including D'Angelo Russell. 

While LaVine impressed through his first four seasons in the NBA, it wasn't until the 2018-19 season that he took his game to the next level. If he lands in New York, either team who acquires him won't be disappointed.
