Knicks star set to join Team USA at 2024 Paris Olympics?

Knicks All-Star guard Jalen Brunson is "high on the list" of potential players to make Team USA's 12-man roster at the 2024 Paris Olympics, per United States coach Steve Kerr.

"There's a reason he's on our list," said Kerr, via New York Post. "Because he's a great, great player and high character, a leader. He's everything you want as a player. He's high on our list and he's definitely somebody we're considering."

Kerr's comments shouldn't come as a huge surprise. He did entrust Brunson as Team USA's starting point guard at last year's FIBA World Cup

While Brunson couldn't help his country advance past the semifinals, he exhibited tremendous poise in leading an inexperienced squad, averaging 11 points and four assists from 20 minutes per game.

By attempting only 7.6 shots per game, Brunson showed his willingness to be a floor general, allowing the likes of Anthony Edwards and Mikal Bridges to carry the scoring load.

Will Brunson, part of a 41-player pool, make the final Olympic team?

An earlier report from NBA insider Shams Charania suggested that "the locks" on the 12-man team include a core seven of LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Joel Embiid, Jayson Tatum, Devin Booker and Jrue Holiday.

After that, Tyrese Haliburton, Anthony Edwards, Anthony Davis and Bam Adebayo are next in line and considered "strong candidates" to represent Team USA.

Perhaps Brunson could get the 12th and final spot. The likes of Kawhi Leonard, Kyrie Irving, Damian Lillard, Donovan Mitchell, Paolo Banchero and Chet Holmgren are also in the 41-player pool.

Team USA will be seeking its sixth straight Olympic gold medal this summer.
