Knicks ticket prices surge for Game 1 against Hawks at Madison Square Garden

The New York Knicks are preparing to host their first playoff game since 2013, so it should come as no surprise that tickets for Game 1 of the team's first-round series against the Atlanta Hawks are pricey.

As of Monday, the cheapest resale ticket for Game 1 at Madison Square Garden was $968 plus fees on SeatGeek, according to SNY's Ryan Morik. The price is three times higher than StubHub's price for Game 1 of the Brooklyn Nets' first-round series.

The Knicks won their final game of the season against the Celtics on Sunday to clinch the Eastern Conference's fourth seed and home-court advantage for the first round. The team is expecting to host 5,700 fans for the playoffs, according to Marc Berman of the New York Post.

New York finished the regular season with a 41-31 record, its best finish since the 2012-13 campaign. The Knicks' success can be credited to head coach Tom Thibodeau, Julius Randle, R.J. Barrett and Derrick Rose, among others.
