Kobe Bryant's family wants to trademark 'Mamba and Mambacita' for clothing, shoes

Kobe Bryant's family is attempting to lock up a trademark for "Mamba and Mambacita," with the intention of using it for clothing and shoes, according to TMZ Sports.

An attorney for Kobe Bryant LLC filed the application on March 10 and noted the trademark would be used for shirts, skirts, pants, shorts, bottoms, socks, dresses, jackets and hoodies in particular. It will also be used for workout gear such as sweatbands and shoes. 

Bryant first coined the name "The Black Mamba," in order to separate his professional and personal life, according to Business Insider. The nickname signified an "alter-ego," which Bryant used to get through tough times during the early stages of his NBA career.

Gianna, who was also a basketball star even at her young age, was dubbed "Mambacita," the counterpart of "Mamba."

Bryant's estate has filed several trademarks since the deaths of Kobe and Gianna in January 2020, including including "Mamba Sports Academy," "Mambacita," "Lady Mambas," "Lil Mambas."
