The LA Clippers are planning to convert their two-way guard Joshua Primo to a standard NBA contract, and then move guard Xavier Moon to a two-way deal. Shams Charania was the first to report the move.
Two seasons ago with the San Antonio Spurs, Primo averaged 5.8 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.6 assists on 37/30/75 shooting off the bench. He's a young athletic guard that the Clippers could use in the future, but still definitely needs work on his shooting.
The most interesting thing about the move for the Clippers is that the team doesn't really need any more guard players. After trading away nearly all of the team's power forwards for James Harden, the Clippers really need to use their final roster spots on a power forward. Some of the best free-agent power forwards available are Wenyen Gabriel and JaMychal Green, but the team could decide to wait until the trade deadline to see who becomes available.
How much Josh Primo actually plays with the Clippers remains to be seen, especially with how stacked the team is at the guard position. Still, the Clippers have always suffered so many injuries every year that even their third-string rotational players end up starting some games. Today is not that day though, because the entire starting lineup is fully healthy as they take on the New York Knicks tonight.
