The LA Clippers lost a huge piece of their organization this week. According to a report from Adrian Wojnarowski, LA Clippers GM Michael Winger has agreed to become the President of Monumental Basketball, which gives him full leadership of the Washington Wizards. This also includes the WNBA Mystics and G-League team Go-Go - essentially he will be making all moves for the Wizards franchise.

Michael Winger has been the GM of the LA Clippers since August 23, 2017. In July 2019, Winger signed Kawhi Leonard and traded for Paul George. The team has had a winning record every single year since Winger's tenure, and only truly missed the playoffs one time in 2018. At the Clippers, Winger served under Lawrence Frank, who is the President of Basketball Operations.

The LA Clippers still have a brain trust with Lawrence Frank, Trent Redden, and Mark Hughes. There have been rumors that Bob Myers will join the Clippers, but it seems hard to believe that Myers will serve under Frank. The two would have to be in tandem with each other, or he'd have to replace Frank entirely.

For the Washington Wizards, Winger will definitely bring some change to the organization. He was a part of the brain trust that traded Blake Griffin, Chris Paul, and Tobias Harris from the Clippers. He will do what will needed to be done to put the Washington Wizards in a competitive position in the future. The LA Clippers will definitely miss Michael Winger's mind.
