Davis’s exceptional stat line—27 points, 25 rebounds, 7 steals, 5 assists, and 3 blocks—marked a first in NBA history, further elevating the Lakers’ position by besting the Western Conference’s second-ranked team.
This triumph wrapped up an impressive week for the Lakers, who also secured wins against the leading teams from both conferences, including the West’s top-ranked Oklahoma City Thunder and the East’s second-ranked Milwaukee Bucks.
“I think we’re hitting our stride right now,” Davis remarked, highlighting the team’s newfound momentum that has pushed them six games above .500 for the first time this season. “We’re just trying to keep going, keep pushing, knowing that just like last year, all we got to do is get in. We feel like it’s tough for anybody to beat us in a seven-game series. … We like our chances against anybody at that point.”
Despite battling left shoulder soreness from a recent clash with Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Bucks, Davis was determined to play, supported by the Lakers’ medical staff who managed his condition throughout the game. “I felt it at times out there,” Davis admitted, acknowledging the persistence of his discomfort.
