Lakers linked to former No. 10 overall pick

The Los Angeles Lakers have been a team constantly floated as a potential fit for numerous players during free agency and around the trade deadline. But one name that’s made sense in recent seasons is former No. 10 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, Cam Reddish.

When the Portland Trail Blazers opted not to extend a qualifying offer to Reddish this offseason, it set up another potential opportunity for a Lakers-Reddish link. But this time, the two could potentially be a match made in heaven.

Ahead of 2023 NBA free agency, the Lakers essentially had a clean slate with space to fill out the roster for the most part around LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Denver Nuggets guard Bruce Brown has a popular name floating around the team, and now the links to Reddish have started to pop up.

The Athletic's Jovan Buha stated that Reddish is a name who’s already been linked to the Lakers. Bleacher Report’s Eric Pincus also stated he “wouldn’t be shocked” if the Lakers end up signing Reddish, but cited that it’d likely need to come at the minimum.

Reddish, 23, began his career in 2019-20 with the Atlanta Hawks where he played into his third season before being traded to the New York Knicks. Over the past two seasons, Reddish has played for the Hawks, Knicks and Blazers. While he had a decent stretch to finish out last season in Portland with averages of 11 points, 2.9 rebounds and shot 44.3 percent from the field, he'll have a new home in 2023.
