Lakers reportedly optimistic Andre Drummond will return soon from toe injury

The Los Angeles Lakers just can't seem to get rid of the injury bug.

Andre Drummond, who signed with the Lakers after being bought out by the Cleveland Cavaliers, was forced to leave L.A.'s 112-97 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks Wednesday after suffering a toe injury.

The 27-year-old was diagnosed with a bruised toe and X-rays came back negative.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski and Dave McMenamin, the Lakers are optimistic that Drummond won't miss more than a game or two.

The two-time All-Star tweeted Thursday that the injury caused his toenail to fall off and said it felt "incredible" to wear the purple and gold.

With Drummond, LeBron James and Anthony Davis now sidelined, the Lakers could end up losing the fourth spot in the Western Conference if they continue to struggle. L.A. only has a half-game lead over the Denver Nuggets and Portland Trail Blazers.

The Lakers will take on the Sacramento Kings Friday before playing the third-place Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday.
