The Lakers are guaranteeing the contracts of shooting guard Austin Reaves and forward/center Wenyen Gabriel for the rest of the season, per Dave McMenamin and Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Saturday is the guarantee date on contracts for 2022-23, so the Lakers simply need to do nothing but allow the guarantees to kick in. As Wojnarowski noted, this was to be expected as both players have been regular parts of the rotation.

Reaves, 24, is 6-foot-5 and averaging 10.8 points and shooting 49 percent from the field, including 36 percent on 3-pointers. This is his second NB season after going undrafted out of Oklahoma in 2021.

Gabriel, 25, is 6-9 and is averaging 5.8 points and 3.9 rebounds in 29 appearances. Along with Thomas Bryant, Gabriel has helped to fill the void created by the injury to Anthony Davis.

Gabriel has also had stints with the Clippers, Nets, Trail Blazers, Pelicans and Kings.
