In a quest to add perimeter shooting, the Lakers recently brought in free agent shooting guard Joe Wieskamp and free agent guard/forward Tony Snell for workouts, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Wieskamp, 23, is 6-foot-6 and was waived by the Spurs midway through last month. He appeared in 29 games last season, averaging 2.1 points, after the Spurs selected him with the No. 41 overall pick of the 2021 NBA Draft.
He actually spent most of last season on a two-way deal, but signed a standard deal in March. He then missed summer league with an ankle sprain, and his future in San Antonio was starting to seem in doubt.
He then signed a deal with the Spurs in late August, a contract that Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported was for two-years and $4.4 million.
Snell, 31, is also 6-6 and was selected by the Bulls with the No. 20 overall pick in 2013. He spent his first three seasons with Chicago, followed by three more with the Bucks. He has also spent time with the Pistons, Hawks, Trail Blazers and Pelicans.
Snell appeared in 15 games with New Orleans in 2021-22 but has remained unsigned after becoming a free agent following the season. He carries NBA career averages of 6.1 points on 43 percent shooting.
