LaVar Ball says New York Knicks are 'best fit' for LaMelo

LaMelo Ball is expected to be among the top picks in the 2020 NBA Draft and his father LaVar revealed that he has a preferred destination for his son.

"The best fit in my eyes is the New York Knicks," LaVar said on FS1's "Undisputed." "It’s time for something good to happen to them."

LaVar has never been shy about spouting his opinions about where his sons should play, including him correctly predicting that Lonzo would be drafted by the Lakers in the 2017 draft. This time, he said that he could see all three Ball brothers playing for the Knicks, which he believes would rescue the franchise from mediocrity.

"I think so," LaVar said. "The bright lights, East Coast, If everything lines up right, the Knicks get the first pick and get LaMelo and LiAngelo with him and somehow get Lonzo in the long run. Shoot – The Triple B’s. The Ball Brothers on Broadway."

Of course, getting all three Balls on the same team would be difficult, as Lonzo is currently playing for the New Orleans Pelicans and LiAngelo is with the G-League after going undrafted in 2018. Plus, the Knicks are currently the sixth seed in the draft lottery, with only a 37.2% chance of moving up. So there's a decent chance LaMelo isn't even available for the Knicks in the draft.

And just because New York is LaVar's preferred destination for LaMelo, it doesn't mean he's not open to other teams.

"This is what other people need to understand: They asked me where I would like him to go. I said the Knicks, big city," LaVar Ball said on the Complex Sports Load Management podcast in response to his statements. "My thing is this: whoever the best coach is, that's going to believe in him and let him do what he does, I don't care where he's at."
