LeBron James’ involvement with the Looney Tunes franchise of course is headlined by his star turn in “Space Jam: A New Legacy.” Now, the Los Angeles Lakers superstar has been added to a mobile game that takes place in the iconic animated world.

Scopely announced this week that James is now a playable character in the popular “Looney Tunes: World of Mayhem.” The official YouTube channel of the game shared the news with footage from the game that features James’ character.

Once players complete a new “Welcome to the Space Jam” campaign, James, as captain of Tune Squad Shooters and Tune Squad Dunkers, will be made available for gameplay, according to Bleacher Report.

James’ addition to “Looney Tunes: World of Mayhem” comes in conjunction with Friday’s official premiere of “Space Jam: A New Legacy” in theaters. The movie is also simultaneously available for streaming on HBO Max.

Last month, James opened up about why he elected to go ahead with the long-in-the-works reboot of the “Space Jam” franchise, which comes with the pressure of following in the footsteps of Michael Jordan, the Lakers star’s longtime idol.

The red carpet L.A. premiere of the film came earlier this week, and to no surprise it was a star-studded event headlined by James’ presence.

Despite all the hype for “Space Jam: A New Legacy” and anticipation over the past few years, the reviews have not been good. The movie currently carries an awful 37% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The site shares the following brutal “Critics Consensus”:

Despite LeBron James’ best efforts to make a winning team out of the Tune Squad, ‘Space Jam: A New Legacy’ trades the zany, meta humor of its predecessor for a shameless, tired exercise in IP-driven branding.
