LeBron James blocks Carnival Cruise Line's attempt to register 'King James' trademark

LeBron James is widely known as "King James," and just about everyone knows that. Apparently, though, Carnival Cruise Line applied for the "King James" trademark anyway, and the Los Angeles Lakers star isn't too happy about it

According to Josh Gerben of Gerben Law Firm, Carnival Cruise Line filed a trademark to use "King James" as a name for one of its new ships. While it sounds like a nice name for a massive ocean vessel, it doesn't seem like James will let the company use it. The four-time NBA champion blocked Carnival's attempt to land the trademark, filing an opposition to the application last week.

James is very protective of his nickname — so much so that he's filed oppositions against other companies that have tried to use "King James" in the past. He opposed the application of a man in Los Angeles who wanted to use the saying in 2019.

James also has applied for trademarks of his own in the past, too, including the filing of a "Taco Tuesday" trademark that was eventually denied.
