LeBron James weighs in on Kyrie Irving suspension

Amid his ongoing suspension, Kyrie Irving appears to have the backing of former teammate LeBron James. In a Thursday afternoon tweet, "King James" wrote, among other things, that Irving "should be able to play."

Last week, Irving's Brooklyn Nets sidekick Kevin Durant talked with reporters about the situation as well and mostly supported "Uncle Drew." On Tuesday, Boston Celtics standout Jaylen Brown stood up for the seven-time All-Star.

In late October, Irving shared an Amazon link on social media for a movie called "Heroes to Negroes: Wake Up Black America," a film that contains a host of antisemitic tropes and falsehoods about Jewish people. He faced immense scrutiny following the post, and eventually, both the Nets and Irving donated $500,000 to anti-hate causes.

This came after the point guard's father and stepmother reportedly met with the Anti-Defamation League.

NBA commissioner Adam Silver released a statement last week, and he and Irving met in person earlier this week. When faced with questions last week regarding if he had any antisemitic beliefs, the former Rookie of the Year gave a puzzling response.

After Irving's much criticized answers to the media's questions, the Nets decided to suspend the 30-year-old. Once the suspension was announced, Irving posted an apology on his Instagram account.

Last weekend, it was reported that the Nets provided Irving with a list of six "action items" that he must complete before rejoining the team.
