Now in his third year in the NBA, Austin Reaves is slowly making a name for himself as part of the Los Angeles Lakers core this season. That popularity has also led to a random jersey swap with an MLB legend, one that’s sparking a lot of funny reactions online.

But before that jersey swap happened, the Lakers lost at home to a Golden State Warriors team led by Stephen Curry. The four-time NBA champion was in his bag all night long and dropped 31 points, six rebounds, and five assists in that contest.

LA, meanwhile, saw LeBron James go off with 40 points, eight rebounds, and nine assists. This performance occurred in a game that saw Anthony Davis exit the game early due to an eye contusion.

Later on, during the game’s final stretch, a series of replay reviews caused a delay of over 20 minutes. This period included the rescinding of James’ corner three-point shot, an act that could have won the game for the Purple and Gold.

Los Angeles Lakers Star Austin Reaves Jersey Swap With MLB Legend Albert Pujols Is Attracting Funny Reactions on Social Media

After the game, the young star swapped jerseys with baseball legend Albert Pujols, as seen in this photo shared by MLB on X:

Going down the comment section and fans will see a steady flow of funny reactions to the jersey swap between Reaves and Pujols. Shown below are some of these tweets:

“Gotta be the most random jersey swap I’ve ever seen,” Steve Perrault posted.

“That’s the most random thing I’ve ever seen,” DJ Martinez shared.

“Weird of Pujols to list all his accomplishments…” Jeremy Berman wrote.

“Austin Reaves and a fan,” Broke Brothers tweeted.

This season, Reaves has raised his game by averaging 15.9 points on almost 50 percent shooting from the field, 38 percent from beyond the perimeter, and 85 percent from the free throw line. He’s also making 4.1 rebounds and 5.5 assists on a nightly basis for LA.

Even with the loss, the Purple and Gold star’s popularity is surely gaining some traction inside and outside the league. Hopefully, Reaves will be able to swap more jerseys in the years ahead.
