Luka Doncic is dominating at EuroBasket tournament as Slovenia advances

After winning the EuroBasket tournament in 2017, Slovenia is well on its way to competing for another European title. And it is largely because of Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic who is absolutely dominating the tournament.

He continued his stellar run with an impressive performance in Slovenia's 88-72 win over Belgium in the round of 16, sending his team to the quarterfinals where it will face either Ukraine or Poland.

Doncic is second in the tournament averaging 28.0 points per game (behind only Giannis Antetokounmpo's 29.9 points per game), and he put 35 on the board against Belgium on Saturday.

Along with the 35 points, he also finished with five rebounds, five assists and four steals, and was a plus-33 when he was on the floor.

That performance continues what has been an absolutely staggering three-game run for him.

Before beating Belgium, Doncic had a tournament-high 47-point performance in a win against France earlier this week, which came after a 36-point effort against Germany.

That means over his past three games, he is averaging nearly 40 points per game.

Those three games were also three of the four highest scoring games of the tournament for any player, with only a 41-point game from Antetokounmpo cracking the top-four.

It has been quite a showing.

Mavericks blog Mavs Moneyball used this recent stretch as a jumping-off point to argue that the Mavericks should run more and not leave what could be easy points on the table
