Luka Doncic told NBA reporter Rachel Nichols that he’s very happy with the Dallas Mavericks.

There were rumors this past offseason that Doncic was upset in Dallas since the Mavericks missed the play-in tournament last season. However, the superstar put those rumors to rest.

The Mavericks signed Doncic to a five-year, $215 million contract in August 2021. Doncic is one of the best players in the NBA, and he has a chance to become one of the greatest players of all time.

The 24-year-old Doncic is averaging 32.0 points, 8.2 rebounds and 8.9 assists this season while shooting 48.2% from the field, 38.4% from beyond the arc and 78.5% from the free-throw line. The All-Star has 13 double-doubles and four triple-doubles.

Doncic is second in the NBA this season in total points, second in points per game, fourth in total assists, fourth in assists per game, second in three-point field goals and sixth in player efficiency rating. The 2018-19 Rookie of the Year is looking to become the first Mavericks player since Dirk Nowitzki to win the MVP Award.

The Mavericks re-signed Kyrie Irving and Dwight Powell and added Grant Williams, Derrick Jones Jr., Seth Curry, Dereck Lively II, Dante Exum and Olivier-Maxence Prosper this past offseason. With Luka and Kyrie leading the way, Dallas looks like legitimate title contenders.

If Doncic makes an All-NBA team next season, the point forward would become eligible to sign a five-year, projected $318 million supermax extension in 2025. All signs point toward Doncic making another All-NBA team this season.
