Luka Doncic put on a show Wednesday night during the Dallas Mavericks’ 127-114 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers in Game 2 of the teams’ first-round series. To no surprise, the Mavs superstar’s consistently supportive mother was among those who were left amazed by the standout performance.

While Doncic’s stat line Wednesday night didn’t showcase the gaudy numbers the star can routinely put up, the guard did score a team-leading 28 points and added eight rebounds and seven assists. The NBA world was blown away by his play, as evidenced to the reactions on social media.

Mirjam Poterbin, Doncic’s mother (who has become a popular figure in her own right as her son has taken the NBA by storm), shared a video on Instagram that highlighted tweets in which some of the league’s biggest names raved about the second-year superstar’s Game 2 performance.

What made Doncic’s game so outstanding is how he completely dominated the first half. When the buzzer sounded at halftime, Doncic had led the Mavericks to a 61-56 lead by contributing a stunning 22 points, six rebounds and seven assists.

With the series knotted up at one game apiece heading into Game 3 Friday, Doncic believes that the Mavericks, the Western Conference’s No. 7 seed, have what it takes to compete with the favored second-seeded Clippers.

“We’ve just got three left,” Doncic said after the game. “I think we can fight with them. Any series we go in, we’re going to believe we can win, for sure. If you don’t believe it, you’re not supposed to be here. You’ve got to believe it.”

If the Mavericks can get more of the same out of Doncic as the series progresses, there’s no doubt the Clippers will have a fight on their hands just to get out of the first round.
