Marc Gasol to play for Spanish club he founded in 2014

Former NBA center Marc Gasol announced Thursday he will play for the Girona, the basketball club in Spain that he founded back in 2014.

Gasol, 36, also serves as owner and president of the club.

The 14-year NBA veteran, who spent 11 seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies, last played with Los Angeles Lakers, averaging 5.0 points, 2.1 assists and 4.1 rebounds in 52 games played for the Southern California team. 

He also spent two seasons with the Toronto Raptors.

Gasol made his final Olympics appearance this last summer, representing Spain at the Tokyo Games.
