Mark Cuban shares encouraging update on Delonte West's rehab

Since retiring from the NBA, Delonte West has been struggling. Bipolar disorder, homelessness and substance abuse have plagued the 37-year-old throughout his life. He only recently checked in to a rehab facility with the help of Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, and it appears he's finally getting the help he needs.

On Friday, Cuban shared an inspiring photo of West horseback riding as he continues his rehab. Cuban is paying for West's rehab in full in order to help get his life back on the rails.

Cuban reportedly picked up West and placed him in a hotel room before he entered rehab so he could reunite with his family members after a video of him begging for money on the streets of Dallas went viral.

West played his final season in the NBA with the Mavericks in 2011-12 before playing in the G League and Chinese Basketball Association, where he ultimately decided to call it quits in 2015. When he retired, West's mental health struggles and substance abuse issues took a turn for the worst. People around the NBA tried to help him, but he refused to take them up on it.

While his playing days are very clearly behind him, getting West healthy is something that has become very important to NBA personnel around the league. Seeing the photo of West smiling is something many thought they'd never see, and hopefully Cuban will only continue to share updates of the former guard's progress.
