Markieff Morris predicts Lakers would sweep Clippers in playoffs

If the NBA season resumes, one of the most highly-anticipated matchups will be the battle for LA, as the Lakers and Clippers have proven to be two of the most dominant teams in the league this season. Adding to the intrigue of the intercity rivalry is a brother rivalry, with Marcus and Markieff Morris playing on the Clippers and Lakers, respectively. The two brothers were asked about a potential playoff series between the teams and, unsurprisingly, both sided with their own squad.

Marcus said he wanted his prediction to be "realistic," so he said the Clippers would beat the Lakers in seven games, though he said the final game would be a blowout win. Markieff responded by saying “let me be realistic with mine, too. Lakers in four.”

To be fair, it appears that Markieff was having fun with his brother, as he was smiling as he made his prediction of the Lakers sweeping their Staples Center co-tenants. But while he may have been joking about the sweep, he definitely was not joking about his belief that the Lakers would come out on top.

If the two teams do end up facing off in the playoffs, it probably won't be until the Western Conference Finals. The Lakers currently own the best record in the West, while the Clippers are slated to be the second seed.

Historically, the Lakers have unquestionably owned LA when it came to basketball, as the Clippers have struggled to match them in terms of fans or championships. However, this may be the most talented Clippers team of all time, with Kawhi Leonard and Paul George joining the team last summer.

Currently, the NBA season is on pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic but it's expected to resume sometime in the next couple of months, and both teams are hoping to bring a title to Los Angeles.
