Phoenix Suns and Mercury owner Mat Ishbia and the Suns and Mercury unveiled the completion of their newest project today: the Player 15 Group team member campus.
Back in October, the organizations announced the plans for the project.
“The Phoenix Suns and Phoenix Mercury today unveiled plans for a new team member business headquarters and a dedicated state-of-the-art practice facility for the Phoenix Mercury. The groundbreaking project, a $100+ million investment and 123,000-square-foot development, driven by Suns and Mercury owner Mat Ishbia’s commitment to the organizations’ foundational pillars of community impact, fan experience, team member culture and winning, will be strategically located within Phoenix’s Warehouse District downtown.
The new Suns and Mercury team member campus will be one of the largest developments for a professional sports organization in the country, spanning approximately 65,000 square feet, with more than 58,000 square feet dedicated for the Mercury practice facility.”
In only six months, Ishbia stood true to his word the Suns and Mercury turned a warehouse across from Chase Field into their new team member headquarters.
The campus houses a large, open environment featuring basketball courts, a pickleball court, a cafeteria, gym, golf simulator and much more.
“For those of you who don’t work with the development industry, I think you’ve set several records in the city of Phoenix with this project,” Phoenix mayor Kate Gallego said at the grand opening today. “Mat likes to get things done.”
Ishbia wanted a building similar to the feel of his United Wholesale Mortgage campus and was able to deliver exactly that.
“Speed matters,” Ishbia said. “When you have a great idea, I don’t want to wait for it happen. I want it to go now.”
This summer, the Mercury will also have a new, state-of-the-art practice facility attached to the building. The Mercury are currently sharing a practice facility with the Suns in Paradise Valley.
“We’re one team, and hopefully this makes teamwork, collaboration and positivity even better than ever before,” Ishbia said to 350+ employees Suns and Mercury showing them the campus for the first time. “We’ve already been winning, and now we’re gonna win at a different level as a team.”
