It has been more than three years now since former NBA players Matt Barnes and Derek Fisher got into a physical altercation over Fisher dating Barnes’ ex-wife, and the two have since managed to put their differences aside.

In an interview with Liz Gonzales of Barstool Sports, Barnes spoke about the situation with Fisher and his ex, Gloria Govan. Barnes once drove nearly 100 miles to confront Fisher, but he says the two managed to talk things out.

“We had a little altercation but, to be honest, he and I are cool now,” Barnes said. “We squashed it. I told him where I was coming from. He explained his side a little bit and we were fine.”

Barnes said he didn’t have a problem with Fisher dating his ex despite the two being former teammates, but he was angry that his and Govan’s two sons were spending time with Fisher without Barnes being informed. He also said he wished he was able to pummel Fisher even worse.

“It wasn’t really as much of an a– beating as I wanted it to be because there was so many people at the house,” Barnes said. “There was like 15 people there. Every time I got on him people were grabbing me, so I only got a couple of good shots in. He was lucky that was the case. It could have gotten ugly.”

Fisher and Govan are now engaged, and Govan made it clear as of last year that her relationship with Barnes is not in a good place. Perhaps that has changed since.
