Mavericks star Luka Doncic confirms participation in Olympic qualifiers with Slovenian national team

Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic won't rest during the offseason.

Doncic's comments come one day after the Mavericks were eliminated from the NBA playoffs with a 126-111 Game 7 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers. The 22-year-old was tremendous throughout the series, averaging 35.7 points, 7.9 rebounds and 10.3 assists per game while shooting 49% from the field and 40.8% from deep.

The Slovenian men's national basketball team will play qualifying games in late June. If the team qualifies, Doncic will take part in the Tokyo Olympics, which begin July 23 and end in August.

The 2021-22 NBA season starts in October, which means Doncic won't have much time off before returning to the Mavericks.

Doncic is also eligible for a max extension this offseason, and there's no doubt the Mavericks will extend that offer to him.
