The Dallas Mavericks are set to acquire center Daniel Gafford from the Washington Wizards in exchange for center/forward Richaun Holmes and draft picks via the Oklahoma City Thunder, per NBA insider Marc Stein of The Stein Line.

Earlier, Dallas had agreed to a trade to land power forward P.J. Washington from the Charlotte Hornets, as we relayed here.

Translation: The Mavs’ frontcourt just received the boost the front office had been seeking ahead of Thursday’s trade deadline.

“Dallas has pursued Gafford dating to last season and, after extensive talks with Washington on various Kyle Kuzma scenarios, pivoted to the pursuit of a Gafford trade for a much-needed infusion of size,” Stein wrote.

Dallas will send the second-least favorable of the Thunder’s 2024 first-round picks to the Wizards as part of the trade. We’re not quite sure yet what is in it for the Thunder but will update as the news becomes available.
