The Dallas Mavericks were 24-17 on the season as of Wednesday night heading into a high profile tilt with the Los Angeles Lakers in Tinseltown.

The Mavericks and their longtime former superstar Dirk Nowitzki have been in the headlines lately, as former Spurs star Tony Parker declared Dirk the ‘Euro GOAT,’ adding that he wishes ‘he was not born.’

Parker’s scathing, dark sense of humor showcased why he was such a cutthroat player on the basketball court, capable of facilitating the offense and shooting the opposing team out of the game in the clutch.

With the Lakers showdown looming, Mavericks current star Luka Doncic’s status was finally revealed.

Now, Parker’s comments on the Nowitzki vs. Doncic debate are getting a boatload of attention.

Parker Speaks Out on Doncic vs. Dirk

According to the French national and former Spurs All-Star, the Mavericks’ young gun Doncic simply is not in the same class as the German legend Nowitzki.

“For me, to be in the conversation, you have to win a championship. That’s just my personal opinion…” Parker said on ‘The Why,’ NBA Hall-of-Famer Dwyane Wade’s new podcast.

It was episode number one for the former Miami legend’s show, and this time Parker brought the heat.

“To me, because I won a championship, if you don’t understand what it takes to win a championship, I don’t think you should be in the debate,” Parker said about the Mavericks superstar and Slovenian legend.

The full episode can be heard below.

Doncic’s 2024 Impact on Mavericks

Doncic is averaging an unbelievable 33.6 points per game with more than eight rebounds and nine assists per game on the season for Coach Jason Kidd’s team.

In his recent absence, Kyrie Irving and Tim Hardaway Jr. have stepped up to the plate, shouldering the scoring load in clutch moments while refining their games.

Needless to say, it’s an uphill battle for Doncic and the Mavericks to win it all this season, but stranger things have happened, and Doncic certainly has the talent to pull it off if the stars align.
