Matthew Hurt is coming off a year where he played in the G League for the Memphis Hustle.

The 23-year-old averaged 15.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.4 assists per contest while shooting 59.5% from the field and 39.3% from the three-point range in 28 regular season games (he also appeared in 17 Showcase Cup games and one G League playoff game).

In September, Hurt signed a deal with the Memphis Grizzlies, but he has now been waived.

Via Grizzlies PR: "The Memphis Grizzlies today announced the team signed guard Jason Preston and wing Timmy Allen. Per team policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed. In addition, the Grizzlies waived forward Matthew Hurt and guard Mychal Mulder."

Hurt played two seasons of college basketball for the Duke Blue Devils, and during his sophomore year, he was one of the best players on the team.

That season, he averaged 18.3 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.4 assists per contest while shooting 55.6% from the field and 44.4% from the three-point range in 24 games.

However, Hurt went undrafted in the 2021 NBA Draft.

Hurt has yet to make his NBA debut, but since he has played well in the G League, he will be a name to watch.

Before getting waived, he appeared in two preseason games with the Grizzlies.

As for the Grizzlies, they are coming off a year where they were the second seed in the Western Conference with a 51-31 record.

However, they lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the NBA playoffs.
