There’s no question about Stephen Curry’s dominance when it comes to outside shooting. The thing is, Memphis Grizzlies rookie GG Jackson’s 3-point feat against the Golden State Warriors was never one of the All-Star guard’s achievements during his first year in the NBA.
During a game between Memphis and Golden State at the Chase Center, the latter went home with a massive 137-116 win. Seven players from the Warriors lineup that night scored in double-digits, including Jonathan Kuminga, Andrew Wiggins, Draymond Green, Stephen Curry, Trayce Jackson-Davis, Klay Thompson, and Chris Paul.
On the other hand, the Grizzlies had Jackson tally 35 points on 50 percent shooting from beyond the arc, five rebounds, and three assists. Jaren Jackson Jr. made 28 points while Santi Aldama added 27 points and nine rebounds.
Even with a tense altercation that saw Green accidentally push Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins, the Warriors still dominated throughout the game. This helped Golden State secure its hold on the 10th seed as the regular season only has less than a month to go.

While the Warriors took the win against Memphis that night, Jackson achieved something Curry didn’t in his first year in the league. According to a post shared by StatMuse on X:

This achievement is notable because the Grizzlies star isn’t a guard like Curry. At 6’9″, Jackson is a power forward with a knack to getting buckets from anywhere on the court, as seen in his career average of 37 percent success rate from three this season.
It’s clear that Memphis isn’t contending this year. Once Ja Morant returns, along with Desmond Bane and other key pieces, expect Jackson to play a bigger role in helping the Grizzlies return to contention next season, especially if he continues his hot streak from beyond the arc.
